About the DATA LAB

Data Lab plays a crucial role in the education of master's students in Applied Data Science and Analytics. It provides a hands-on learning environment where students can apply the theoretical concepts they've learned in the classroom to real-world data science problems. This practical experience is essential for developing the skills and expertise that employers seek in data scientists. It provide students with access to the infrastructure allowing them to experiment and gain practical experience. This is essential for developing proficiency in data wrangling, data analysis, machine learning, and other essential data science skills where students can gain hands-on experience, develop essential skills, and prepare for successful careers in the field of data science. 

Physical or Virtual Space:

Physical Lab: We have a physical space designated as a data science lab (arc 221), providing a collaborative environment for data scientists to work together. Virtual Lab: With the rise of remote work and cloud-based technologies, our virtual data science labs allow teams to collaborate online, accessing shared resources and tools from anywhere. 

Infrastructure and Tools: 

Computational Resources: As High-performance computing resources are essential for handling large datasets and running complex algorithms. We have setup up a clusters of servers, GPUs (NVIDIA RTX A6000 48GB GDDR6), and cloud computing services, interactive touch screens etc. 

Data Storage and Management: 

Data Storage: We have robust storage solutions to handle and organize large volumes of data. Data Governance: Ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with regulations is crucial. Data governance practices help manage and protect sensitive information. 

Research and Development: 

Experimentation: The lab is a space for experimentation and innovation. Data science students may conduct research, test new algorithms, and explore novel approaches to solving data-related challenges.
