We bring together application-oriented research and learning.

What you can expect from us

Our promise to you

As one of Germany’s oldest and largest private universities, we set the standards in education. We impart practice-oriented knowledge that truly helps you get ahead. In the process, we attach particular importance to establishing close cooperation between our students and teaching staff.

Here, you won’t find yourself on hold with an anonymous call centre or standing around alone after you’ve signed the study contract. We offer comprehensive personal counselling and support. Whether you have questions about financing or organising your studies, or arranging study abroad, our staff from Central Student Services are always there for you. Your professors and lecturers are available at all times, thanks to our open-door policy. You’ll benefit from countless mentoring and coaching programmes, which help you get the most out of your education. As a result, 90% of our students graduate within the standard period of study for their programme (compared to about 60% at public universities).

It’s not only important how you study, but also where you study. Our campus in Heidelberg, accessible for people with disabilities, is a place to learn, live and develop. You’ll find an environment designed to make you feel at home, while motivating you to work hard. Our classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and tailored to the needs of our students. In addition to the on-campus library, there’s a canteen and a fitness studio.

We want you to achieve your goals. That’s why we provide you with precisely the skills and capabilities you need to take your next steps. We employ our proven CORE Principle to structure all study goals and exam formats, as well as learning and teaching methods, to make studying enjoyable and help you achieve the best possible outcome in your studies. You study in five-week blocks, directing your attention to a maximum of two subjects per block. Our professors and lecturers see themselves as “learning coaches,” supporting you wherever and whenever you need it. That is their passion.

Motivation requires an eye to the future. That is what you’ll get from our high-quality, internationally recognised degree programmes, which offer excellent opportunities for the future. You’ll not find any flash-in-the-pan trends here – we prefer to look further ahead. Your curricula are tailored to the requirements of your future profession. We prepare you for your future career, by combining research and teaching into a well-balanced mix of theory and practice. That way, you can quickly adjust to working life. That further increases your appeal to future employers. In an increasingly globalised world, our international outlook provides outstanding opportunities on the labour market.

Are your standards high? Ours are too. As one of Germany’s oldest and largest private universities, we are state-recognised and system-accredited. With our decades of experience, we are continuously expanding and refining the programmes we offer – and updating them to reflect the ever-changing requirements and demands of the real world. Our degree programmes are highly ranked. A degree from SRH University Heidelberg reflects the highest standards – both in Germany and abroad. Our professors and lecturers perform at the highest level. And our study model has received the Genius Loci Award for Excellence in Teaching by Stifterverband, a joint initiative started by companies and foundations.

Open-minded university

Our mission statement

We see ourselves as an interdisciplinary, scientific and cosmopolitan educational institution. In achieving our academic goals, our actions are driven by guiding principles.

We ensure the party-political, religious and ideological neutrality of our universities as well as their independence from the economic interests of third parties. We warmly welcome all students and staff, regardless of their ethnic and social background or gender. We believe it is important for our students and staff to have intercultural experiences and skills.

Every person is a unique individual, yet at the same time a social being. We therefore encourage our students and staff to be independent thinkers and actors who, with a confidence in their own abilities and in partnership with others, actively help shape our society. In the process, we respond to the expectations and demands of our students and staff; their perspective is important to us.

We consider personal freedom and the freedom of others to be a great good that needs to be protected. Creativity and innovation can only flourish where individuals are able to develop their potential freely. Within our culture of learning and teaching, students consequently adopt and develop their own attitudes, ideas and solutions to problems. As free and responsible individuals, students and staff take responsibility for their attitudes and actions.

Our students and their personal development take centre stage at our university. In our face-to-face classes and distance learning, we therefore use the findings of education science on sustainable learning, which have been consolidated in our CORE Principle. The CORE Principle focuses on student centeredness and active learning, and on a learning and exam concept oriented consistently to the relevant competence objectives. Learning content is addressed in thematically coherent contexts. Application-oriented research is just as much an integral part of this as the use of digital media and the continuous professional development of our staff. Together with students, staff and external partners, we create an environment for innovative and sustainable learning.

Thanks to competence-oriented learning and application-oriented research, our students are supported and challenged in such a way that they are able to develop their own profile, giving them outstanding opportunities on the labour market when they graduate. At the same time, we maintain our national and international networks, and get external partners and students involved in our research, product development and practical projects.

Our universities can then best live the above-mentioned values and rely on requirements of a constantly changing environment in a flexible, fast and optimal manner if they are managed in an entrepreneurial way. This requires strong leaders who are willing to take responsibility for the company and who can live up to taking over. In doing so, our managers pay attention to the SRH principles of good corporate governance. We are convinced that cooperation within the association will enable us to work together "better grow" and our joint network will open up perspectives that go beyond the possibilities of the individual universities.

Diversity
We embrace diversity!

We see diversity – in our team and among our students – as potential.
