With the project "International Research Experience @SRH" we are expanding the research capabilities of our university. The goal is to motivate students to pursue an academic career, to create follow-up perspectives for young scientists, and to promote international research collaborations.

What it's about:

Internationalization and strong research - this is what the project "International Research Experience @SRH" stands for. In this project we cooperate with partner universities in Portugal, the USA, Canada and Russia to combine international research, intercultural exchange and networking. We create new, research-oriented study opportunities and improve the framework conditions for your start into an academic career. With various scholarships we support stays abroad for your research in the context of your master and doctoral theses or international research projects.

This programme is about showing international career prospects and enable young scientists to take new career paths.
Prof. Dr. Carsten Diener, Rector of SRH University Heidelberg

Project goals

With the project „International Research Experience @SRH“ we pursue three goals:

  1. Internationalization of research-oriented education
Starting with the study programs „Architecture – Design for the built environment“ (M.A.) and „Water Technology“ (M.Eng.) and in cooperation with our partner universities we are testing a new kind of seminar: the research-oriented „Research Event Series“. Together with international students and teachers you will be studying research-focused - both in virtual formats and in a research project week on site in Heidelberg. With the "Research Event Series" you expand your research skills, make new contacts and gain international and intercultural experience.
  2. Establishment of international cooperative doctorates
You are interested in doing research? We are strengthening the follow-up perspectives for young scientists at our university and supporting your start into an academic career. The establishment of cooperative doctoral programs with our partner universities will give you the opportunity to conduct research in an international context. In the future, a newly established Graduate Center will offer you a comprehensive range of advice and support services for doctoral students and those interested in pursuing a doctorate. Feel free to contact us!
  3. Expansion of international partner networks
We are constantly working on increasing international, research-oriented mobility and expanding our international partner network. To this end, we award various research fellowships for students, doctoral candidates, guest lecturers and experts within the project. Apply now and take the opportunity to broaden your research horizon abroad. In the future, a newly created international cooperation database will provide you with information on partner universities, research priorities and cooperation opportunities with international partners.

Publication Prize

SRH University Heidelberg awards outstanding research publications:

Researchers at the SRH University Heidelberg who have published a paper in the current year as part of an international, cooperative research project can apply for the SRH Publication Prize until November 30th. The application is open to all scientific publication formats (essays, articles, monographs, commentaries, etc.).

The prize itself is not endowed. However, a publication costs subsidy can be requested as part of the application: In addition to the award, up to two award winners can receive a subsidy of up to €2,500 for any publication costs incurred. The publication subsidy serves exclusively to (re)finance publications (fees, printing, and production costs) and is coordinated by the respective faculty. Any publication costs incurred must be proven by means of invoice receipts.

Application process:

To apply, please fill out the application form and send it – if applicable, together with the invoice receipts – to the research dean of your faculty. At the ‘Research structure conference’, at least two of the most significant publications of the year will be selected for the SRH Publication prize. The application deadline is November 30 each year.
